Your online dating profile is equivalent to a job resume. You have seconds to grab someone’s attention before they move on to the next profile. Therefore, you need to put as much information about yourself (nothing too personal, of course) in an interesting way to keep people reading. First of all, it all starts with good photos of yourself. Regardless of what you may think, when browsing any dating site, people are checking out photos before even attempting to read a profile. This means you should have a nice, clear headshot of yourself. Include as many photos of yourself as you can. Group shots, photos of you doing something fun, etc. People like to get a feel for who you are and a picture can say a lot.
What to Add to Your Profile
Many dating sites make creating dating profiles super easy. They usually set it up with a bunch of questions to answer so talking about yourself should be relatively easy. Although, I personally don’t like talking about myself, you just have to learn to make it fun. It’s kind of like answering interview questions.
Do your best to avoid one word answers and short sentences. You’ll want to put as much of your personality into your answers as you can. Adding a bit of humor is a plus. I know I have contacted people simply because I’ve found their profiles to be hilarious. Imagine how many times the humorous profiles get contacted. Keep that in mind and don’t be afraid to let the real you show.
Let People Know What You’re Looking For
Don’t be afraid to let people know what you’re seeking. Are you looking for something long-term? Short-term? Something casual? You can help weed out a lot of people who may not be in search of what you are. This will save time and only attract those who are truly interested.
