Good First Date Ideas

by Dating Spree on October 11, 2011

Any first date can have you feeling a bit nervous, especially if you really like the person you are planning to go out with. Planning your date can also add a bit of pressure because you want to make it fun for the both of you, while keeping it comfortable enough for you to be yourself. Typically, you and your date will choose a place together. This is an exception if your date asks you to go with them to a particular place. Otherwise, you should have as much input as possible on what events your first date will consist of.

Dining Out

Planning on dining out is a very common dating idea and for good reason. Good food and good conversation in a pleasant atmosphere is a great way for two people to learn more about each other. When choosing a restaurant, you’ll definitely want to ask your date about their favorite food. You can offer to go to their favorite place, however, to keep things fun and exciting, I’d suggest going to a restaurant he or she has never been to. Maybe you know of someplace that is a bit out of the ordinary or has amazing food in general. You can be a bit adventurous with restaurants because it will only add to your conversation.

Local Events

If you live in a fairly big city, there are always things to do every night of the week. You can check online for local events such as concerts, comedy shows, art shows, etc. Subscribe to coupon sites such as GroupOn, LivingSocial, and Google Offers to get discounts on events and restaurants. These will trigger even more ideas and save you money as well.

Keeping it Simple

Your first date can also be very simple. There is nothing wrong with the traditional dinner and a movie. You can even do something simpler such as meeting up for coffee, dessert, and going for a walk in a park or other venue with beautiful scenery. Really, the key is quality time to get to know one another. Avoiding loud places is actually a benefit.

Random First Date Ideas

Below, I will list some very random ideas that may help you brainstorm what you may want to suggest for a first date:

  • Take a class together (cooking class, etc.)
  • Catch a show (concert, play, etc.)
  • Walk on the beach
  • Meet for dessert
  • Hot air balloon ride
  • Go dancing
  • Catch a movie
  • Catch a local band
