Speed dating started back in the 90′s and is a form of dating in which you meet a large number of single people at once. Usually it is conducted in a public venue and participants have a set amount of time to talk to an individual before moving on to the next. If you hit if off with a person, you write down their information (name, number) and if they also are interested, you have the opportunity to contact each other later.
Now, with today’s technology, many people can try speed dating online. The concept is the same except, instead of meeting in person, you are meeting in a virtual chat. The online versions are much more convenient and also open you up to many more locals in your area who may be using the service at the same time.
Whichever way you prefer, speed dating is a great way to meet people in a timely manner and is a quick way to see if you and another person have chemistry. Another form of speed dating is now available on many smart phones. There are now apps that utilize GPS to pinpoint other members using the same service who are interested in meeting up at the moment and time you are browsing.
With all of the online social activity that is popular, these types of meet-ups are becoming common. However, beware because some users are only looking to meet for physical relationships only. If that isn’t your cup of tea, I’d suggest avoiding those types of apps.
